2019 Sign-On and Information Day


Moggill Junior Australian Football Club is now open for sign-on/registrations for the 2019 Season for Girls and Boys for:

Auskick - Fun introductory level program that runs for a 7 week program in our pre-season commencing 5pm Friday 01 March.

Roys Juniors - Building on the skills and introducing highly modified game (6 a side) play with 20min training and skill development and a three period modified game to prepare kids for future seasons in under 8's and beyond - 1 session per week commencing in line with the Junior and Youth competitions - School Term 2  - following the Auskick program.

Under 8 - First year of non-contact competition (9 a side) with girls and boys playing together with modified rules on a modified field with the intent that all kids get their hands and feet on the footy, trying every position and develop team work skills and positivity.  Pre-season training commencing from 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/23 March 2019.

Under 9 - 2nd/3rd year of competition with slightly larger fields but still modified rules (12 a side) with girls and boys playing together in all field positions to further develop skills, team play and have a good time. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/23 March 2019.

Under 10 - Similar to Under 9 but with slightly more contact and a few rule changes still zoned fields to develop team work and giving everyone the opportunity to get the footy with all players rotated into all positions each game to hone their skills leading into the U11 age group. Girls and Boys still able to play in the same team and against others but there is also the opportunity for girls in this age group to play in the all girl Under 11 competition. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/23 March 2019.

Under 11 Girls - First year of all girls competition (incorporating ages 10 and 11) - teams of 9 + players and similar field size and rules to under 10 footy with the introduction of additional skills and larger zones. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/23 March 2019.   

Under 11 - Transition year from junior to youth footy with biggest change being the increase in the size of the field, moving from team numbers of 12 a side to 15+, no marked zones and playing with a leather footy. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/23 March 2019.

Under 12 - First year of Youth footy - playing on full sized fields with 22 players a side (18 on field), AFLQ appointed umpires and opportunity to play in finals series. Each team is graded and allocated a relevant division to ensure close games and challenges. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/24 March 2019.

Under 13 Girls - Second Age grouping of girls only competition incorporating 12 and 13 years of age on modified sized fields with AFLQ appointed umpires with tackling and removed zone. Pre-season training commencing 5pm Friday 01 March and Round 1 on Weekend commencing 22/24 March 2019.
 
Under 14 and 16 - Second /third age group in boys youth footy - Same sized teams and full sized fields and rules with a larger sized footy.

Under 15 and 17 Girls - Progression of All Girls Comp from the U13G with larger sized fields team size and balls. 

If you are new to AFL and would like to find out more, come to our sign-on day on Saturday and Sunday 02/03 February from 10am to 2pm or if you'd like to try it out, come on down to our one of our ongoing social training sessions on Friday evenings or during the pre-season training commencing 01 March 2019).

  • 2019 Registrations Now Open Hi Everyone,Our 2019 registrations are now open! We are in our new facility now at 3660 Moggill Road, Moggill (past Bellbowrie on the way to the Moggill Ferry) with a full sized field and a junior field both so we have room to grow and plenty of space to train.Now is the perfect time to register with the Mustangs either as a returning player from 2018, a new member, or a member that may have given the game a break for a year or two.   • Inaugral Mustangs Final - U13 Girls v North Lakes Eels Friday 7 September 6.15pm Yeronga Field no.2 For the first time in our young clubs history, we have a team of Grand Finalists!!!!!! Our Under 13 Girls joined for the first time this season and through the amazing coaching from Jo and management of Bron, have made not just developed in skills, abilities and understanding the game, but had a great time doing so and made a tremendous team.The last game of the season is the Grand Final and its on this Friday evening at Yeronga. If you are as proud of this teams achievements and and the club as I am, head over to Yeronga this Friday Evening by 6.15, wear your blue and gold and cheer our girls on! They'll love it ...

  • Gounds Closed This Afternoon 09/03/2018 The Sport and Rec Club fields have been assessed today and due to the consecutive days of persistent heavy rainfall and a few showers today, the fields are waterlogged. Not only would training and playing on the waterlogged surface be a little dangerous, it would also cause damage to the fields and mean that we'd be off them for longer while they are under repair, so once again we have to cancel the session this afternoon.Hands up who's sick of the rain already this season?   • Season 2018 Registrations Now Open The season 2018 registrations are now open. In a change in policy and insurance requirements from AFL Queensland all players must have registered and paid prior to undertaking training this season. To ease the financial strain a little given we are still in Christmas and New Year Holiday and back to school mode, we have been able to split the payment with only the AFLQ component needed to be paid prior to commencing training.The registration page can be accessed through the Join Our Club page (tab above) or via the AFL Brisbane Juniors Web Site (click on the mustangs logo on the right hand side of the page and then the big red button on the next page).   • Auskick and Training Cancelled This Week (31 March 2017). Hi Everyone,Although we are starting to dry out after a load of rain, the training fields are still a little tender and some of our coaching team are flooded in.
